What a Life!

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, Imagerooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness (Colossians 2:6,7 – NIV).

Jesus is not just about going to Heaven. Jesus is the journey and the destination.

We receive Christ because our hearts have been drawn to him by the Holy Spirit. it’s called prevenient grace. Look it up sometime – it’s amazing. (Isn’t there a song about God’s amazing grace….?)

We then walk in him, literally taking steps of faith, trusting him to supply all that we need to move forward. His life is our life. His presence in our lives helps us to love God and others.

Paul says we’re rooted in him. He is our foundation and the ground in which we are planted. Spirit-fruit (love, joy, peace, etc) appears as Christ’s life moves through us.

We are built up in him. Our spiritual growth and maturity is totally dependent on our being united with him.

The only way to go deeper and higher with God is to continue to receive Jesus.  Christ is so big that we will discovering him throughout eternity. When John the Revelator saw the glorified Christ in all his majesty and fullness, normal words failed him. His awesomeness transcends human speech!

It is no wonder that Paul said we overflow with thanksgiving. What a life!
